Support Worker
Development Officer
We are seeking an empathetic individual to play a vital role across our Westerhaven and Mental Wellbeing services, supporting people affected by cancer, long-term conditions and mental health challenges. This is a rewarding and varied role where you will provide one-to-one emotional and practical support, helping people navigate difficult circumstances, build resilience and access the support they need. Alongside direct client work, you will contribute to the smooth delivery of services through strong organisational and administrative support. Your ability to build trust, listen with empathy and respond to complex needs will make a real and lasting difference to the people we support.
What you’ll do as a Support Worker:
- Provide compassionate, emotional and practical support to individuals
- Help people build confidence, develop coping strategies and access appropriate support
- Coordinate appointments, referrals and client journeys to ensure timely access to services
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to service monitoring and reporting
- Work closely with colleagues and partners to deliver high-quality, joined-up support
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of our services

From strengthening our volunteer programme and growing membership, to developing compelling communications and supporting fundraising activity, this is a varied and rewarding role where your contribution will directly support our ability to make a difference.
What You’ll Do as a Development Officer:
- Coordinate and support community fundraising and income generation activities
- Lead the recruitment, induction and ongoing support of volunteers and members
- Develop engaging content across social media, newsletters and promotional materials
- Manage and update website content, supporting our digital presence
- Represent the organisation at community events and external meetings
- Work closely with the Chief executive to develop funding opportunities
