The Health Agency

Clare Daly

Cancer Support Nurse

I started as a cancer support nurse at the Westerhaven cancer support centre (part of the Health Agency) in 2010, helping to set up and provide support to people and families affected by cancer in South West Edinburgh. My Background as a Registered General Nurse is in District nursing with various posts held over many years within hospital settings. In taking on this new role, I went on to complete a specialist degree in palliative care as part of my professional development.  I enjoy & feel challenged by this job, it offers me the opportunity to provide holistic care, help & services for people who are going through a difficult time, often presenting with complex needs. In aiming to effectively support those facing the effects of cancer or long term conditions, I recently qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, & use these skills to further assist me in my role.  In 2016 I embarked upon a sabbatical trip travelling & volunteering in weird & wonderful places; Outer Mongolia, Burma and India to name a few. My interests include singing, yoga, trying to play piano, learning to juggle 4 balls (not a euphemism)  & orienteering with my (daughters) trusted dog ‘pippin’ (who also works at Westerhaven as a therapet).
